The Web Science Group was headed by Dr. Ralf Krestel and particularly interested in Text Mining to deal with the vast amount of unstructured and semi-structured data (on the Web).
The research focus is on various topics related to the Web, such as
- Intelligent Web-Based Systems
- Information Retrieval
- Natural Language Processing
- Social Network Analysis
- Recommender Systems
We approach these topics using and developing Machine Learningmethods, such as
- Probabilistic Graphical Models and
- Deep Learning
We have a strong focus on Applications, namely
- Media Analysis and
- Information Systems
