PhD Position in Data Quality Assessment for Health Data

We offer a fully funded PhD position in the area of data management and data quality at the Information Systems Group at the Hasso Plattner Institute, University of Potsdam, Germany. The position is funded for 3 years, with the possibility of extension, and can start at any time. 

The research will be conducted within the research project QuAHD (“Quality Assessment for Health Data”), a collaboration between the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) bordering Berlin and the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, USA. The focus of the research is on the automatic assessment of health data quality by specifically investigating the two dimensions of completeness and diversity. The overall goal of the project in pursuit of a PhD is to develop a model for health data quality assessment, which is also able to deal with changes in the data and can be executed efficiently.

Your tasks

  • Solve scientific problems by conducting independent and goal-oriented research
  • Collaborate closely in our team and with the project partners at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York
  • Publish research results in top-ranked database conferences and journals and present your research at scientific events
  • Optionally: participate in teaching activities

Your profile

  • An excellent master‘s or diploma degree in Computer Science (or a closely related field)
  • Experience within the following areas are highly appreciated: data management, data integration, data quality, data profiling, machine learning
  • Ability to develop methods, concepts, as well as their implementation and evaluation
  • General interest in the health-care domain
  • Organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working
  • Strong programming skills and experience with developing research prototypes
  • Spoken and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work in a team, problem-solving skills, and creative thinking
