Olelo is our platform for integration of various Natural Language Processing (NLP) task for the biomedical domain. It is build on top of the SAP HANA database. Here are some of its features:
- Indexing of more than 16 millions abstracts from the PubMed database of biomedical publications;
- Integration of MeSH ontology and various terminologies from UMLS;
- NLP based on the text analysis of the SAP HANA database, such as document retrieval and dictionary-based named-entity recognition (NER);
- Implementation of automatic text summarization and question answering (cf. figure on the right).
Oleo has been used to create summaries for genes and to answer gene-related questions. Please check our #GeneOfTheWeek page.
Output files derived from comparison of Olelo to other three biomedical question answering systems on 10 factoid questions of the BioASQ benchmark.
More information on the methods behind Olelo and its evaluation in the BioASQ challenge can be found in the In-Memory Natural Language Processing page.
