Analyzing Customer Adoption of Enterprise Cloud Platforms

In this year's trends and concept seminar, we analyze different adoption scenarios of enterprise cloud platforms, ranging from slow adoption of cloud platforms to adoption of multiple cloud platforms. In case studies with our industry partners and through their real-world examples, you will learn about cloud transformation projects.
The goal of the seminars is to identify enablers and barriers to cloud transformation in general and the adoption of the SAP Business Technology Platform in particular. Based on your findings, you will develop concepts to lower the adoption barriers and enhance the development experience to help your case companies leverage the full potential of their enterprise cloud platform.

About The Seminar

To help you tackle this year’s challenge “Improving cloud transformation and the adoption of enterprise cloud platforms”, the course is composed of four interwoven parts. In an introductory workshop, you will get acquainted with the topic. You will learn the basics about Enterprise Cloud Platforms and the need and possibilities for cloud transformation. You will experience tools and processes to start on the SAP Business Technology Platform. Additionally, you will learn interview and observation techniques to prepare you for your case study.
Following the workshop, you will conduct a case study with experts from SAP and an industry partner. You will interview them to learn about their cloud experiences, needs, and business cases. Based on these interviews, you can identify enablers and barriers to cloud adoption for your case company. During the main part of the seminar, the block week with Prof. Plattner and SAP executives, you will present your case studies and develop, refine, and polish concepts for improvement. The seminar week will follow an agile process containing elements from hackathons and design thinking workshops. At the end of the seminar week, you will showcase your results to Prof. Plattner, your industry partners, and SAP representatives in a final presentation. You will conclude the lecture by documenting your case study, findings, and concepts for improvement.

Participation in Trends and Concepts in the Software Industry I is not mandatory as recordings of selected presentations will be provided.

The seminar schedule consists of the following activities:

  • 2-day Kick-Off Workshop: 18th and 19th of November 2021,
  • November 2021 through February 2022: conduction of case study (interviews, observations, synthesis of results)
  • Seminar block week: end of February 2022 / beginning of March 2022
  • End of march: deadline for documentation
