This paper gives an overview over the research project DigiPolis, which develops a framework integrating 3D models of buildings, including interior models, with semantic annotations and intuitive, touch-based interaction and navigation. Results obtained in the first year of the project range from touch-based interaction in 3D building and interior models over ontology browser to interactive 3D annotations. The current DigiPolis showcase comprises a 3D model of the Berlin Hauptbahnhof, Berlin’s central station, embedded in a generic virtual 3D Berlin model and Open Street Map. Application areas for DigiPolis technology include visitor information, controlling & monitoring, event management and facility management as well as all IT solutions that require a sophisticated, interactive 3D front end for complex, detailed 3D geospatial and related georeferenced information.
