On September 2, 2014, Prof. Hasso Plattner gave the opening keynote at the Very Large Data Bases (VLDB) conference in Hangzhou, China. Prof. Plattner presented recent results of in-memory database research and which impact new database technologies have on the next generation of enterprise systems. The VLDB is amongst the most prestigious database research conferences in the world.
