Creating Interactive Web-based Apps in the Context of eLearning (Wintersemester 2013/2014)

Beschreibung

Does e-learning really have to boring? In this seminar we will create web-based exercises to make e-learning more fun. We don’t like Flash, so we will use standard web-technologies like HTML5, Javascript and CSS3 to create highly engaging and state-of-the-art little web-apps. Your app will have the chance to be used by thousands of users on openHPI/openSAP. Therefore, you will work in small groups.


Module 1: What you should know about e-learning (but never dared to ask).

In this first module you will be asked to hold a short presentation about different forms of e-learning (Tutorials, MOOCs, text-based learning) and different systems established on the e-learning market. Your teachers will tell you about the basics of learning didactics, learning theory and ...

 

Module 2: Creating MOOC Content

In this module you will learn how to create MOOC Content. How about making an online course teaching new students everything they need to survive at HPI? Feel free to use all the power of what today MOOC-Systems offer you, including quizzes, videos and animations.

 

Module 3: Creating Interactive Web-based Apps

Now its getting serious. In this module (which is he longest ) you will create a small web app which can be used within the context of a MOOC. Therefore, we will use HTML5, JQuery and CSS3. A memory game, a click and point adventure, a 3D Puzzle, based on your learnings from the prior modules you will create a concept for an interactive e-learning app.  We will also take care that the apps are responsive and run on touch devices like tablets.

Voraussetzungen

You should be familiar with the basics of todays web technologies, in particular HTML5, Javascript, JQuery, CSS3. Working in a team shouldn’t bother  you. During project runtime should be able to work on your own, however we are always happy to help.
