Synopsis: Most image and video abstraction approaches rely on complex algorithms that are parameterized based on various constraints depending on the respective input. Adjusting these parameters often requires knowledge about the algorithm itself. This topic focus on enabling non-expert users to effectively apply image abstraction techniques by supporting parameter choices based on image statistics (Figure), such as color histograms, local color distribution, or similar. The thesis should be implemented using the VideoToolKit (VTK): a system for real-time analysis, processing, and rendering of video and image streams that is currently under development at the Computer Graphics Systems Group. The master thesis can be used to start as a software developer at our research partner Digital Masterpieces GmbH (www.digitalmasterpieces.com) in Potsdam.
