Innovation in times of Corona

The corona pandemic is ubiquitous and affects all parts of our daily lives. Despite this, innovation is by no means dead but more important than ever. Previous crises have encouraged the emergence of ideas such as AirBnB or Square.

As the HPI School of Entrepreneurship, we deal with innovative ideas on a daily basis, so we asked ourselves what innovation opportunities have arisen/might arise from the current situation.

The #WirVsVirus Hackathon launched by the Federal Government that encouraged out-of-the-box thinking and the development of innovative ideas that will help society to show solidarity now and emerge stronger from the current situation caused by Covid-19. In 48 hours, 28,361 people have worked on over 1,500 solutions.

Among the top 20 ideas that emerged from this hackathon is wir-bleiben-liqui.de. The team provides immediate assistance to companies so that they can secure their existence. With the help of wir-bleiben-liqui.de the number of queries in exchanges with banks and authorities can be reduced and the disbursement of funds due to those affected is speeded up.

To learn and discuss first-hand how an extraordinary situation like this can incubate new ideas, we invited the wir-bleiben-liqui.de team on June 10th to give a presentation about their experiences of the last weeks.

Among other things they talked about:

  • that their idea was a pivot from a support for banks to an assistance for companies to secure their existence
  • that one of their biggest assets was the team diversity
  • that the pro bono work continues
  • how different partners and experts supported their idea regarding infrastructure, reduction of security risks etc.
  • that their service will be extended throughout Europe

At this point we would like to thank the wir-bleiben-liqui.de team once again for the great insights and of course also all participants of the event.

The speakers of wir-bleiben-liqui.de with the E-School team

Many thanks to Patrick Düll, Annett-Katrin Wohlgemuth, Tim Maaßen and Desiree Sacher for the exciting lecture as well as to Gudrun Mildner and Gregor Bransky for the exchange in the run-up to the event and much success for the team wir-bleiben-liqui.de!
