The E-School supports HackHPI

On the weekend of May 25th – 27th, HPI hosted 80 international participants in the annual Hackathon. The theme of this year’s event was “Environment”.  After forming 18 teams, the participants worked on different challenges set by the partners over the course of 22 hours. For the duration of the Hackathon, the E-School provided a mentor to support the teams in their final presentations. Likewise with the support of the E-School, the presentations and award ceremony took place on Sunday.

The suggested solutions ranged from b2c apps offering information about the current state of environmental pollution, through b2b2c solutions, which would allow companies to reward their employees for their environmentally friendly behaviors. Smart-Hardware-Solutions which would help reduce the water usage in a single household were also among the proposed solutions.

We were impressed by the variety of ideas, and the striking quality of development, considering the time limit of only 22 hours. The organization of the weekend was equally as good. We can’t wait for next year’s event, and hope to see many of the ideas unfold in the future!
