Research in the area of IT entrepreneurship

Besides offering courses dealing with founding a company, HPI also explores practice-relevant research topics in the field of IT entrepreneurship. To this end, HPI collaborates with international and national top universities and companies.

Research topics

HPI addresses topics in the field of entrepreneurship research at the interface between IT and entrepreneurship, for example:

  • Promotion of academic spinoffs in the IT sector
  • Management of the founding process of IT startups
  • Strategy development
  • Value creation und performance measuring of new startups
  • Entrepreneurial finance
  • Venture capital

Specific topics in the above areas are currently being researched in PhD dissertations.

Cooperation with top-level universities

HPI promotes close collaboration with international top universities, such as Stanford University or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A strong national partnership exists in the entrepreneurship field with outstanding universities including the Leipzig Graduate School of Management and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

We also work together with firms such as Hasso Plattner Ventures and SAP in investigating practice-relevant research topics.
