Growing Together: The Digital Engineering Faculty

In June 2016, Hasso Plattner announced a significant expansion of the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI). This new foundation: the Digital Engineering Faculty, was Germany's first fully privately funded faculty at a public university.

Since its inception on April 1, 2017, the expansion of the joint faculty of HPI and the University of Potsdam (UP) has seen developements in both structure and content. The new faculty represents a crucial step in promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and professional training in digital engineering.

With this strategic advancement, the Hasso Plattner Institute reaffirms its mission to provide excellent education and research in the fields of IT and digital engineering. The close cooperation with the University of Potsdam further strengthens scientific networking and promotes the exchange between theory and practice.
