Christian Smirnow

Christian has joined the D-School in 2017 as a Program Manager. He studied social innovation in the prestigious MFA Transdisciplinary Design at Parsons School of Design in New York City supported by the German Fulbright Scholarship. He also holds both BA and MA titles in Textile/Surface Design from weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin. His professional knowledge in design, manufacturing, and materials, adds to his strategic and theoretical design practice.

Christian uses a conceptual design approach and systems thinking to develop strategies that aim to impact behaviors and social systems. He has gained experience as an educator, teaching ‘Innovation’ theory at Parsons School of Design, has run many of workshops with social, economic, and academic stakeholders, and has worked as an Innovation Designer at the Berlin-based consultancy Mandalah Conscious Innovation.
