Description

The SI model is one of the more basic models used for modelling the spread of epidemic diseases. Rigorous mathematical results have been shown for the model on structured infinite populations, while for finite populations the known results are mainly emperical. The purpose of this project-seminar is to perform rigorous mathematical analyses for the SI model and various modifications on finite populations. Results of such an analysis can be used to determine whether this model exhibits theshold behaviours on finite populations and deepen our understanding of how diseases spread in finite populations.

Requirements

The participants are required to have a strong background in probability theory and stochastics.

Examination

The grading in based on a final presentation, in which the participants present their results.
