In October 2014, Daniel Taschik, a master student from Hasso Plattner Institute, together with Jonas Drüppel and Roland Grenke started working on their video app Dubsmash. Dubsmash let users create short selfie-videos which are dubbed with popular quotes. Thus, the user can make a video of themselves speaking like a famous person. What started as a prototype soon became a viral phenomenon. End of November 2014, Dubsmash reached the No.1 positions in the AppStore in Germany, Holland and Belgium. The app is available for iOS and Android.
