Studying at the HPI D-School

Shape the future with Design Thinking

The Design Thinking programs at HPI D-School are open for students of all disciplines and nationalities. As an additional course of study, you can learn in one or two semesters how innovations are developed in a team. In the Global Design Thinking Workshop you dedicate one week to a specific focus topic of Design Thinking. Together with experienced coaches from different fields, we have developed programs that equip students with a mindset and tools to drive transformation processes in companies and society and thus learn how to shape a sustainable future.

Global Design Thinking Workshops (GDTW) are programs that go beyond the mere introduction to Design Thinking as a process. We have been creating this format as deep dives into the strategic questions of Design Thinking as a mindset and we are offering this course to HPI students and external participants. The next Global Design Thinking Workshop will take place in March 2024 in Potsdam.

Next deadline March 15th 2024: Our programs are open to students and graduates who are up to 35 years old, from all disciplines and universities. You should have graduated less than one year ago. The online application opens every year in mid-May and mid-November.

In the Foundations Program, you will learn about Design Thinking as a holistic approach in the interplay of the iterative process, the work in multidisciplinary teams and our innovative learning environment. The program starts with a one-week project that introduces the method and mindset of Design Thinking. In the following three-, and eight-week projects you investigate users, apply different brainstorming techniques, and create functional and human-centered prototypes. Apply now!
