HPI-HHL Startup Bootcamp #DigitalHealth

From 24-26 November 2017 the HPI School of Entrepreneurship and the HPI D-School are hosting this year’s Startup Bootcamp in cooperation with the Handelshochschule Leipzig (HHL). The event gives participants the opportunity to gain insights into startup culture in the creative and open atmosphere of the HPI D-School. This year everything revolves around the topic “Digital Health”.

During the three-day Bootcamp 50 participants from the HPI, HPI D-School, HHL and from the healthcare sector will develop creative business ideas around the topic of digital health in multidisciplinary teams and will be encouraged to present concepts for new business models. The event’s sponsor, Roche Diagnostics, will provide interesting opportunities for innovation challenges. And the participants are invited to share their own startup ideas, pitch them to recruit team members to work with them on the development of their ideas.

In 50 hours participants will experience the ups and downs that come with building a team and creating new business ideas. The teams will visualize their ideas, build prototypes and test them with experts or real users to iterate and refine their concepts. All participants will learn about idea development and value propositions, business model refinements, customer-focused product development, prototyping, and pitching. Thereby, the teams are supported by experienced Design Thinking coaches of the HPI D-School and experts from the startup ecosystem throughout all phase. Of course, there will also be time for valuable inputs from speakers such as Dr. Claudia Nicolai, Academic Director of the HPI D-School or Dr. Dorian Proksch, Managing Director of the Center for Entrepreneurial and Innovative Management of the HHL. Sven Mischkewitz, Co-Founder of ThinkSono will share his founding experience in the healthcare sector. Harm van Maanen, Founder of Die Brückenköpfe and Min-Sung Sean Kim from Allianz Ventures will give further interesting insights into the world of startups in the Digital Health area. Fun doesn’t come short with gaming activities and cool prizes.

At the end of the three days all teams will present their ideas to an expert jury including Min-Sung Sean Kim, Allianz Ventures Digital Health; Jan Schreiber, Roche Diagnostics and Harm van Maanen, Brückenköpfe. And they are also in for a price. The Bootcamp winner team receives 250 Euro vouchers per team member and the best pitch winner team receives 100 Euro vouchers per team member.  And if that's not enough, the teams can continue the work on their business idea supported by the E-School team. Teams with founding ambitions also have the opportunity to apply for financial support from the HPI Seed Fund.

Contact persons for the Bootcamp are Nadja Hatzijordanou and Katja Grzebiela from the HPI E-School and Dr. Claudia Nicolai from the HPI D-School.
