"Twenty-eight people were taken from parking fields around the Yale Bowl to hospitals during the Yale-Harvard football game on Saturday for alcohol-induced illnesses, said Lt. Mike Patten of the university's police department. On Nov. 5, Yale issued its first restrictions on tailgate parties to curb binge drinking. But during halftime in Harvard's 30-24 victory, young adults danced atop U-Hauls, drank beer from funnels and lingered in the parking lots after the end of halftime, all activities banned under the new rules. Several officers at the game said there were too few of them there to enforce the rules. There were no arrests, Lieutenant Patten said. He said most in the crowd of 50,000 were cooperative.
