Beschreibung

Dear students,In this seminar we want to work with you on exiting topics in the area of behavioral authentication and physical access management (PAM).

Specifically, the following 5 topics are waiting for you, as you can see in the Slides or in the Recording (download for video):

Topic 1: Developing the new version of our smart door handle

Topic 2: Evaluating behavioral authentication using a smart door knob and how it is turned

Topic 3: Pentest of an innovative Physical Access Management System by Uhlmann&Zacher

Topic 4: Implementing FIDO2 integration on smart door handles, no more key token needed (hopefully) ;)

Topic 5: Implementation Platform for Behavioral Authentication Systems

For those topics you will get industry insights and even (if necessary) the proper hardware to test and validate your approaches.

Nevertheless, we have a "Bring your own topic" disclaimer, so in case you have another idea, please come to us!

Registration will be done via moodle here!

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us (eric.klieme@hpi.de/leonard.marschke@hpi.de) or step by at our offices!

Previous Iterations of the seminar

Please refer to EvaP for the evaluation of previous iterations of this seminar with me, such as:

Literatur

Topic 1/2

Under Pressure: Pushing Down on Me: Touch Sensitive Door Handle to Identify Users at Room Entry

DoorCollect: Towards a Smart Door Handle for User Identification based on a Data Collection System for unsupervised Long-Term Experiments

Verification of Keyboard Acoustics Authentication on Laptops and Smartphones Using WebRTC

Beware of SMOMBIES: Verification of Users based on Activities while Walking

Detecting interaction activities while walking using smartphone sensors

Topic 4

FIDO 2 for Door Access

FIDOnuous: A FIDO2/WebAuthn Extension to Support Continuous Web Authentication

Topic 5

Model Cards for Model Reporting

Datasheets for Datasets

Landscape Technologies for data/ai

Lern- und Lehrformen

Depending on the topics you will be divided into groups to work on these topics and finally write a scientific report summarizing your results. Apart from a deep dive into the field of behavioral authentication, machine learning systems and physical access management, the major goal is to learn scientific working and writing so we will have a close supervision, especially in terms of the DOs and DONTs in paper writing :) In addition, you will learn valuable communication and problem solving skills when it comes to group work in a scientific context.

In case you take part in the seminar we will regularly meet in individual groups. Typically, these meetings will be in person at the campus at individual times but can also be virtual spontanously, for instance.

Leistungserfassung

The following disciplines will be considered for the overall grade:
