Studiengänge & Module

IT-Systems Engineering BA

Specialists in the field of computer science and information technology often develop programs and systems for other sectors of a business organization: leadership assessment or  teambuilding for human resources, monitoring throughput for production, calibrating metrics for research and development, implementing environmental controls for an industrial complex, or determining customer preferences for a newly-developed product.

This ONLINE course BEGINNING APRIL 23 provides each student an opportunity to work on a business problem as the context to strengthen their English language skills, as well as practice their rhetoric, critical thinking and problem solving abilities to not only apply technical knowledge more effectively, but also be a more proficient communicator.

Using short business case studies, each student will evaluate a situation in their chosen business area (management, finance, marketing and sales, strategy, external forces, human resources, production), define the problem, propose a solution, and support why the proposal is an optimal solution based on the given information.  Students will also work in small groups to evaluate and reinforce academic writing style, rhetorical constructions and critical thinking abilities in analysing business case studies.

Each student will also complete an independent study portfolio of their own creation, selecting from available online study materials available to expand their vocabulary, strengthen their grammar knowledge and practice, and increase their language comprehension skills.

The number of participants is limited to encourage maximally effective learning in a 90-minute weekly course offering.

STUDENTS MUST BE ENROLLED IN THIS CLASS IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE ONLINE.  Each student will be sent a link to the online classroom once they have enrolled, EVEN IF YOU ARE CURIOUS ABOUT SEEING THE COURSE.

Final course grade is 20% independent study portfolio, 40% online oral presentation (livestream, podcast or video), and 40% final written case study analysis.
