Beschreibung
Working in the field of IT and software development, specialists often need to locate, comprehend and present relevant research to investors, employers and team-members. In particular, it is vital that IT professionals remain up to date on the latest trends and developments within their field, considering not just specifics of software, but also legal and ethical conversations around these tools.
In this skills-based English course, students will work to a tailor-made program to refine their academic and professional English for work and study in software engineering. Through both discussion-based and written analysis of case studies, reports and presentations, students will develop their language skills as applicable to their individual areas of interest. Students will also develop their fluency in discussion and confidence in articulating critical perspectives.
Each student will first become familiar with academic writing styles and conventions in English, with a focus on key vocabulary and critical thinking. Then, students will work on a short report on a relevant topic of their choice. This will be supplemented by an oral presentation.
Students will also create an independent study portfolio of their own creation, selecting from available online study materials to expand their vocabulary, strengthen their grammar knowledge, and increase their comprehension, as well as sharpen their writing skills.
Students who complete the course will receive a signed completion certificate from Berlin School of English.
