Beschreibung

This exercise focusses on selected topics of Prof. Plattner's lecture "trends and concepts in the software industry I":

 

  • user centric design according to IDEO principles (including interviews with student representatives and professors)
  • refactoring of existing "lecture evaluation" (written in SAP technology)
  • reengineering using different technologies (in groups)
    • J2EE application server (EJB plus Java Server Faces)
    • Ruby on Rails
    • PHP
    • Upcoming SAP technology (Composite Application Framework)

Voraussetzungen

Basic understanding of components programming (EJB).

Lern- und Lehrformen

The exercise is split up into two major phase. "Design groups" will be formed for the first two stages. Thereafter new "technical groups" will be formed to work on the technical realization.

Leistungserfassung

The grading process consists of four stages:

 

  • Design of the user interface (including elaboration): 20 %
  • Presentation of the user interface: 10 %
  • Technical realization (including elaboration): 40 %
  • Presentation of the technical realization: 20 %
  • "Lessons learnt": 10 %

 

After the presentation of the user interface a jury will select one design proposal for the following technical realization. Several groups will realize the selected design proposals using different technologies (as mentioned above).

  • End of assignment for this exercise (deutsch: Belegungsfrist): 2 November 2005
  • Decision of "best" design: 23 November 2005
  • Project presentation: 25 January 2006
  • Submission of elaboration: 15 February 2006
