Beschreibung

This lecture will be held in a Stanford-like teaching approach at the HPI D-School. The course is composed of two interwoven parts: Technological discussions and a design project. Topics related to the contents of Prof. Plattner's lecture "Trends and Concepts in the Software Industry I" will be taken up and reflected on.

From the design perspective topics include design processes, innovation methodologies, need finding, human factors, prototyping, and team dynamics. Students experience a hands-on project embedded in the technological topics of this course.

After course registration has ended, articles will be published and small groups will be assigned to prepare a short presentation (15 minutes) about topics of selected articles.

The block lecture (discussions and design parts) will be held Monday through Wednesday (Feb. 16-18). Participants will be separated into teams and assigned a topic as well as a design challenge to work on. Thursday will be a lecture-free day to have enough time to prepare the group topic for the final presentation and create or polish the prototype from the design challenge. On Friday the topics will be presented by recapturing them in own words and discussing additional thoughts and an outlook.

All participants are encouraged to prepare questions for discussion, which will also help to prepare for their own presentations.
