Blockchain und BPM (Sommersemester 2017)

Beschreibung

Blockchain is the technology that powers Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. It is a distributed technology that relies on sharing transactional data among a network of participants who do not necessarily trust each other. Recent blockchain technologies also allow programs, known as smart contracts, to be deployed and executed on a blockchain (https://www.ethereum.org) with the purpose of enabling more complex transactions.

Business Process Management (BPM) is a discipline that applies IT systems to operational business processes performed in an organizational or technical environment. Additionally, BPM is concerned with the design and execution of business process choreographies - inter-organizational processes that describe the interaction between different organizations. 

In this seminar, we focus on investigating blockchains technologies for executing process choreographies assuring a trustworthy interaction among participants who do not necessarily trust each other. Students will have the opportunity to learn and understand state-of-the-art blockchain technologies and implement small prototypes in a BPM context. 

Voraussetzungen

This lecture is for master students with an interest in BPM and blockchain technologies.

More literature will be provided during the course of the seminar.

Leistungserfassung

Each student is graded by:

1) one presentation in the middle of the semester,
2) one final presentation at the end of the semester, and
3) an implemented prototype together with a technical report.
