About me

Carolin Marx is a research associate and Ph.D. candidate at the Chair for Design Thinking and Innovation Research at the Hasso Plattner Institute. Her research focus lies at the intersection of psychology, management and information systems. In her Ph.D thesis Carolin applies a cognitive-affective lens on decision-making challenges in Digital Transformation projects with particular emphasis on understanding how escalating commitment - the failure to withdraw from losing courses of actions - emerges and which strategies decision-makers can apply to overcome this bias. Her methodological repertoire includes psychophysiological experiments, repertory grid interviews, design science research, and quantitative survey studies. Additionally, Carolin is part of the Hasso Plattner Design Thinking Research Program in collaboration with Stanford University where she investigates the use of Design Thinking in organizations.
