About me

Harish Karthi Natarajan is an external PhD Student at the Chair of Design Thinking and Innovation Research at the Hasso Plattner Institute. His primary research interests lie at the intersection of digital transformation and sustainability with a special focus on Artificial Intelligence. He works full-time as a Consultant at MHP - A Porsche Company and has advised international clients in strategy, technology, and legal topics in the area of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles.

Harish completed his Bachelors degree in Production Engineering from PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore, India in the year 2014. During his Bachelors degree, he was also an exchange student at HS Esslingen, Germany. He further graduated from his Masters degree in Computer-Aided Mechanical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University in the year 2018. He has extensive experience in the automotive domain starting as a participant in SAE Baja and Formula Student competitions and moving on to work at research institutes such as Institute for Automotive Engineering Aachen (ika), Werkzeugmaschinenlabor (WZL) as well as major corporations such as Robert Bosch GmbH and Volkswagen AG. Further, he has published 2 journal papers based on his Bachelor and Master Theses.

Current Project

Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change are some of the grand challenges in this Century for practitioners and researchers. While industry and research is focusing on sustainability topics, there exists a research gap on how emerging digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, etc. can help in achieving the sustainability goals. With various theoretical and empirical research methods, I investigate how Organizations can leverage the potential of such emerging technologies for sustainable innovation.
