Design Thinking Studio Membership

A Design Thinking Studio aims to bring together expertise in a focus topic and learn together. Over two to three years, students and professionals, project partners and trained design thinking coaches, scientists, and HPI employees will network with experts from key areas such as

  • Open Innovation,
  • Sustainability,
  • Strategic innovation,
  • Digital Health,
  • Public Services and
  • Social impact.

An essential element of the Design Thinking Studios are projects with partners from practice. Other elements include design sprints of 2-3 days, method labs, lectures, and other workshops and training courses for thematic deepening, further training, and networking.

Annual memberships

The HPI d-school offers an annual membership to participate in a Design Thinking Studio. Membership is an invitation to an organization to contribute to the academic program and to take part in events without being directly involved in a project or wanting to work on a specific Design Challenge yourself.

Ways to participate as a member:

  • Method Labs: 2 times per year, 1 day each
  • D-Talks: 4 times per year, 1 afternoon each
  • Design Sprints: 2 times per year, 2 days each
  • Show-case events: 2 times per year, 1 day each
  • Incubator: By agreement following the project depending on the objectives

Members also can place their own projects in the academic program and develop concrete solution proposals for a semester as part of a project partnership with students.

These further training formats and networking events primarily take place on-site at the HPI School of Design Thinking. In addition to these face-to-face events, there are also virtual offerings, which are only supplementary.
