Prof. Dr. Matthias Weidlich
Short Bio
Since April 2026, Matthias has been a full professor and chair for Data Systems at the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), at the Digital Engineering Faculty of the University of Potsdam. Before joining HPI, he had been a full professor and chair for Databases and Information Systems at the Department of Computer Science at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU). Between 2015 and 2018, he was a junior professor at HU, supported by the Emmy-Noether Programme by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Earlier, he worked as a research associate at the Department of Computing at Imperial College London and as a research fellow and adjunct lecturer at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. He holds a PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) in Computer Science from HPI, University of Potsdam.
