Three Master Lectures
Three Master Lectures on Information Management
In the summer semester 2012 the Information Systems group is offering three lectures in the area of information management. Each of the lectures comprises 2 SWS including an accompanying exercise. They range from integration of structured data all the way to management of unstructured data and text, thus giving students a deep dive into modern IS technologies and applications:
- Natural Language Processing technology attempts to understand the human language and extract structured knowledge from it.
- Data Mining and Probabilistic Reasoning gives an overview of data analysis techniques for pattern mining, prediction, and knowledge discovery.
- Information Integration collects data from various sources to create a common, well-structured and clean data set.
The lectures can be visited individually or in any combination. We will provide pointers to topics of the other lectures where applicable. Where desired we plan to offer combined oral exams at the end of the semester.
