Beschreibung

This seminar is joint work with our colleagues from Prof. Schaub's research group from the informatics institute. Therefore, the seminar deals with Knowledge-intensive business processes from two perspectives. On the one side (the HPI side), the student can work on technical topics with strong business process technologies (bpt) background and on the other side (the IFI side), the student can work on topics with knowledge reasoning, logic, and answer set programming background.

The bpt topics comprise the areas of process querying, business processes for public services, business processes in healthcare environments, event processing, service compositions, run-time optimization, process monitoring, and process model abstraction.

We will also provide lectures about presenting a scientific topic and writing a scientific paper.

Former participation in the following courses is helpful:
Prozessorientierte Informationssysteme I and II.

Literatur

Is mentioned alongside the topic or is provided directly by a topic's supervisor.

Lern- und Lehrformen

This seminar is about independent work of the student personally supervised by a member of the research group depending on the topic chosen by the student in the beginning of the seminar.

Leistungserfassung

Grading includes the (active) participation in the seminar during the presentation sessions, the final presenation, and the written paper.

Termine

As this seminar is joint work with our colleagues from Prof. Torsten Schaub's research group, the topics of this seminar are presented in two introductory sessions: One is held at HPI to introduce the bpt topics and one is held in the IFI building to introduce the topics from Prof. Schaub.

Due to the institute meeting, the HPI introduction event will take place on Monday, 22nd of October 2012, at 11:00 am in room A-1.2.

The IFI introduction event will take place on Thursday, 25th of October 2012, at 04:00pm in room 03.04.2.01 in the IFI building.

The organizers will introduce the seminar topics and general organization issues at this occasion.

The final presentaions are held in the beginning of February, the paper is due by February 28th.

Two lectures about scientific work are held. The first one, held on Monday, 19th November, introduces how to present a scientific topic and the second one, held in Monday, 3rd December, deals with means to write a scientific paper. Both take place during the HPI seminar slot at 11:00am in room A-1.2.
