Short Profile

Marlen Weiße has been a research associate in the Innovation Policy and Transfer Design unit at the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy IMW in Leipzig since October 2019 and an external doctoral candidate in the field of IT entrepreneurship at the Hasso Plattner Institute, Digital Engineering Faculty of the University of Potsdam since August 2020. Prior to this, Marlen Weiße worked as an advisor at the Economic Affairs and Science Department of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ottawa and at the headquarters of the SAP Innovation Center Network in Potsdam, where she also wrote her master's thesis. Currently, she is working at Fraunhofer IMW in projects of international knowledge and technology transfer with a focus on the analysis, evaluation and conception of instruments of innovation policy, and the design of transfer and exploitation structures in local and global innovation and knowledge networks.

Her research focuses on the role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in international innovation systems and investigates in particular how SMEs can strengthen their position and expand their participation in these systems.
