Description
Subject-specific Academic and Professional Speaking and Scientific Writing – Masters Level 3
This is the third in the series of three HPI-specific courses (3/3) which deals particularly with the problems of MA and Ph.D. students. This course encourages and trains free, fluent speaking, communicating complex subject-specific information, assessing and constructing logical arguments for giving successful, professional presentations on your own topics supported by helpful, individualized feedback. Participants are strongly encouraged and invited to bring their own drafts, papers, articles, or else which are to be submitted soon after. Each part of the scientific writing process will be explored and the results will/can be discussed in the peer group to find your most effective strategies. The most typical grammar, syntax and style errors are tackled, as well as the necessary levels of formality, register and tone using practical examples in order to reach publication level. The topics, selected according to the needs analysis, will be frequently adapted to the most pressing needs of the participants. So, make your voice heard. The knowledge acquired can be directly used to write not only your papers, but also your Master’s and Ph.D. thesis.
