Description
This seminar is targeted for students that have already attended lectures and seminars on advanced cryptography and identified research problems therein. The goal of this project seminar is to solve open research problems in the area of provably secure cryptography, and learn how to write scientific papers in that domain.
More specifically, the tasks will be to first identify and present an open research problem, then to solve the problem by 1) defining a formal security model for the targeted problem, 2) designing a cryptographic construction and 3) proving that the construction satisfies the desired security under well-defined assumptions.
The project can be done individually or in groups of two. Interested students should reach out to members of the chair before the lecture period starts. By the end of the first week, a 2-page overview of the research proposal must be submitted and the project idea be presented.
The final grade will be based on the produced research paper (80%) and final presentation (20%).
Examination
The grades for the course will be based on the presentations, and a written report to be handed-in by the participants.
