Description

The aim of this seminar is to introduce students to current research in the field of Business Process Management (BPM) and Decision Management (DM). BPM and DM are disciplines that apply IT systems to operational business processes and decisions performed in an organizational or technical environment. Students will have the opportunity to dive into a specific research topic for obtaining detailed knowledge from related work. To gain an understanding on the practical use, the students may be asked to implement a small prototype which tackles some of the research problems of the chosen topic. Topics include:

  • Assessing Flexibility of Decision-Aware Business Processes
  • Decision Services Design
  • Context-Aware Decision Mining
  • Extending business process simulation with decisions
  • REST-based DMN Decision Services
  • State-based soundness checking of decision-aware business processes
  • Applicability of different soundness criteria to decision-aware business processes
  • Publish/Subscribe Paradigm in Event Processing
  • Integrating Processes and Events
