Digital Health MA

Description

This lecture is aimed at students of the interdisciplinary master’s degree program “Digital Health”. Its main objective is to awaken a critical awareness of ethical questions and problems that might emerge from the students’ future field of work at the interface between IT, computer science, and medicine in the health sector. More precisely, the concept of “Embedded Ethics” sensitizes the students to potential ethical concerns related to the design and the implementation of software systems, but also to the collection, processing and analysis of (personal) data in healthcare right from the start. In this lecture they acquire the methodological/moral-philosophical/argumentative tools to recognize, anticipate and assess potential ethical problems in the context of the use of Big Data in the health sector. They are capable to constructively shape both the professional and public debate, and to envision practical/technical solutions for potential ethical problems in order to contribute to the growth of digital solutions in the area of Digital Health.
