We are happy to announce that three new members are joining the Algorithm Engineering group. The first one is the new postdoctoral researcher Sarel Cohen. He received his PhD from Tel Aviv University, where he wrote his thesis on Dynamic and Fault-Tolerant Data-Structures and Algorithms under the supervison of Shiri Chechik. Previously Sarel worked as a software engineer and applied scientist with Ericsson, Google, and Amazon.
In October, Simon Krogmann will commence his PhD. He studied at the HPI and recently wrote is Master's thesis titled Facility Location Games on Networks with the group.
Nikhil Kumar will join later in November, also as a postdoc. He is currently defending his PhD thesis on Multicommodity Flows in Planar Graphs supervised by Naveen Garg at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Nikhils work has interesting applications to minimum energy scheduling problems, which put a special focus on reducing the environmental impact of computations. This will align nicely with the HPI's Clean IT initiative.
Welcome to the group, Sarel, Simon & Nikhil!
