Over the next two years, Tobias Friedrich is co-organizing one event each in the two most renowned seminar series in computer science and mathematics in Europe.
In October 2019, he is hosting a Dagstuhl seminar about the Theory of Randomized Optimization Heuristics together with Carola Doerr (Sorbonne Paris), Carlos M. Fonseca (U Coimbra), and Xin Yao (U Birmingham). The meeting aims at developing new techniques to tackle the mathematical challenges arising in the analysis of such heuristics and their application to real-world optimization problems.
This is followed by an Oberwolfach workshop on Random Graphs: Combinatorics, Complex Networks and Disordered Systems in May 2020. This seminar is organized together with Amin Coja-Oghlan (Goethe University Frankfurt), Mihyun Kang (TU Graz), and Konstantinos Panagiotou (LMU Munich). It is intended to bridge the gap between the network science communities in math, physics and computer science.
