New postdoc and PhD joining

We are happy to announce two new members of the Algorithm Engineering group.

Katrin Casel will join the Algorithm Engineering group as a postdoctoral researcher in May. Casel received her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Trier where she studied in the group of Henning Fernau. Her work brings together approximation algorithms and techniques from parameterized complexity. This allows for a more flexible trade-off between the accuracy of the solution and the efficiency of its computation, in turn broadening the application scope of both fields.

Nikolay Dichev will expand the ensemble of PhD students starting from July. He received his Mathematics Diploma from the LMU Munich where he majored in statistics. Since his graduation Dichev has been working as a quantitative researcher at Munich Re and Allianz SE.
