An HPI-own is joining the Algorithm Engineering group as a PhD student starting with the new Winter Term. Christopher Weyand received his Master in IT-Systems Engineering in September after writing his Master's thesis on Locality in Game Theoretic Models for Real-World Networks with Pascal Lenzner.
Later, in November, the group is extended by a new postdoctoral researcher in Manuel Rizzo. He received his PhD from the Sapienza University of Rome, where he studied under the supervision of Francesco Battaglia at the Department of Statistical Science. His work explores the usability of genetic algorithms for model building in statistics, in particular for the analysis of time series data.
