Dr. James Ranger

Postdoctoral Researcher

Biography

Dr. James Ranger is a postdoctoral researcher trained in both the Anglo-American analytic and European continental traditions of philosophy and the history of political thought. He is passionate about bringing political and philosophical ideas and approaches to bear on developments in technology and digital communications. A fun fact about him is that he is a Londoner in Berlin.

Research Focus

Dr. James Ranger’s interests lie in the relationship between political organisation and the technical configuration of social life, specifically how technology changes our perceptions of culture, nature, politics and the human, and how these disruptions and innovations challenge our inherited ideas from the history of political thought. More practically, he is interested in digital populism, digital citizenship and ideological communication on social media.
