Startup Talks @ HPI: Celonis

Lecture IX: "From startup to world market leadership in AI-enhanced Process Mining Software

In this ninth lecture of our Startup Talks event series Marc Kinast, Vice President Global Business Development at Celonis will give a talk on “From startup to world market leadership in AI-enhanced Process Mining Software”.

Celonis is a Munich based enterprise software company, founded in 2011 out of a student consultancy project in which the founders Alexander Rinke, Bastian Nominacher and Martin Klenk met. Within 9 years, Celonis has grown into an 850-employee company with 12 offices around the globe, headquartered in Munich and New York, and continuously expanding. Companies around the world including Siemens, 3M, Airbus and Uber rely on Celonis.

The Celonis Intelligent Business Cloud is said to be the world’s most powerful Process Mining technology, enabling a transformational “discover-enhance-monitor” approach to process improvement. It discovers root causes of friction in business processes, enhances those processes with AI-driven actions that proactively reduce and prevent friction, and continuously monitors improvements with unique process visualizations. By providing signals and “next best action” recommendations for every person involved in the process, Celonis engages people in operational transformation. The startup achieved unicorn status in June 2018, and is today valued at over $ 2.5 billion after the latest Series-C funding in Nov. 2019.

Marc Kinast will talk about this unique success story, a startup-mindset paired with the professionalism of a mature enterprise and the global market potential Celonis has for its software but also for new talents.

Marc joined Celonis in 2016 and relocated to New York to establish Celonis' US operations together with Co-Founder Alex Rinke. He led the North American GTM team before moving to a global role, where he now oversees technology and platform partners. Prior to Celonis he worked in finance in London, advising tech clients and blue chip organizations on mergers & acquisitions, IPO's and restructurings. He completed his undergraduate business education in the UK and received his MBA at INSEAD in France and Singapore.
