PIANo-1 Study

How Does Music Influence Concentration?

We are conducting a scientific study to explore how listening to your favorite type of music affects concentration and stress. The study combines a computer-based task with non-invasive physiological measurements. It can be conducted in English and German.

The study is part of a research project at the Digital-Health Machine-Learning chair in collaboration with the Digital-Health Connected Healthcare chair, and has been reviewed by the ethics committee of University of Potsdam.

Purpose of the Study

Everyday life is full of situations where people use music to focus. But does it really help?

The PIANo-1 study investigates whether self-selected music can improve concentration compared to working without music. We also examine how changes in physiological signals (such as heart rate, skin response, or brain activity) reflect concentration levels.
