Title: Hyrise - An In-Memory Database System for Lecturing and Research

 

Abstract

Hyrise is an (mostly) in-memory database system that aims to serve as a platform for lecturing and research. In this talk, we will first give an overview of Hyrise, its technical aspects and how it is used nowadays. The second part of the talk briefly discusses currently ongoing research with Hyrise.

Short CV

Martin is a postdoc at the data engineering systems chair of Prof. Rabl. He is responsible for the Hyrise project, two kids, and works on various database topics ranging from energy efficiency, to streaming, and progressive query processing. He did his — well aged — PhD at the chair of Prof. Plattner about the memory footprints of in-memory database systems. After his PhD he visited the University of California, Irvine (UCI) for half a year.
