The world is undergoing a rapid digital transformation. In the area of healthcare, this transformation has already made a great impact, and the introduction of new technologies continues to shape changing healthcare practices. The digital health research cluster continues to enhance its research focus, by converging healthcare with public health and taking a more holistic approach towards digital health. Our cluster is dynamic and interdisciplinary and dedicated to research with a patient-centered and data-driven approach. Our aim is to utilize and continually develop digital technologies in the fields of medicine, healthcare, and public health in order to improve the health and well-being of each individual as well as larger communities.

Our Mission

  1. The Digital Health cluster is connected internationally through global partnerships.

    We do not just think locally, rather globally. We have already established international connections and continue to strengthen and increase our global partnerships. By striving to learn from the best, we gain knowledge to help us as global players in digital health. We aim for impact generation through the implementation of our research findings.

  2. The Digital Health cluster as a role model for digital health in Germany and Europe.

    In our position as forerunner, others can learn from us. We demonstrate our unique approach in this field particularly in our broad research spectrum and academic activities.

  3. The Digital Health cluster as a school for digital health researchers provides a framework for career paths in digital health through teaching and research.

    We teach, we learn. Our study program is already gaining wide appreciation and our students look to us for guidance. This model helps us to improve continuously and train the next generation of digital health researchers to tackle future health challenges.

Research Focuses

Our research cluster has immense expertise and covers a broad research spectrum, addressing four key aspects of health: prevention, diagnostics, therapy, and protection. Our unique selling point is our ability to tackle health challenges on both the individual and the population level. 

On the individual level, our research supports medical experts in adapting precision medicine, ranging from targeted protection strategies and specific diagnostics to personalized therapy support. 

We also adopt a holistic perspective beyond the individual, focusing on public health to improve health outcomes on a larger scale. This focus includes exploring factors such as health behavior and community-based interventions and addressing global healthcare challenges, such as an aging population, lack of medical professionals, costs, and equitable access. Furthermore, we delve into the economics of digital health, a critical area for our cluster's development.
