Application Step-by-Step
With these steps, you can start studying with us; we look forward to seeing you.
The application process occurs via two portals: First, you must register at www.hochschulstart.de (select the "Register" option). Enter your data and follow the instructions.
You will then receive your applicant ID and BAN by e-mail.
You can now register on the University of Potsdam's study portal: To log in, use your applicant ID and BAN, which you received when you registered on hochschulstart.de.
Once you are logged in, your data will be transferred automatically.
You can also set your own access data for the study portal.
In the University of Potsdam's study place portal, select "Application for B.Sc. IT-Systems Engineering." Use "Upload application documents" to add your application documents (see below) and send them.
Your application will then automatically appear on hochschulstart.de.
Final step: Prioritize your application on hochschulstart.de so that the application for the Bachelor's degree in IT-Systems Engineering is at the top of your priority list.
What's the next step?
After submitting your application documents, check the current status of your application regularly in both portals.
In the event of admission, you must actively accept it on hochschulstart.de. You will then be admitted to the University of Potsdam and can enroll there.

IT heroes with a foreign university entrance qualification
Our International Office for Students and Scholar Services (ISSS) is your first point of contact regarding questions from foreign students about studies at the HPI.
The International Office at the University of Potsdam is also point of contact for international students and can help you with questions about visas, scholarships, buddy programs, and much more.
Recognition of foreign university entrance qualification:
If you obtained your high school diploma abroad, you must present a recognition certificate that you are eligible to study in Brandenburg before applying for the 1st and/or higher semester.

Proof of sufficient German language skills:
If you do not have German citizenship, you must prove your German language skills (DSH2 level) at the latest by the time of enrollment.
