Jan Schmiedgen

Jan is an innovation facilitator and design strategist. Originally he is an interaction designer by professional, as well as a social scientist and economist by academic training. Being such a hybrid he has always been an avid proponent of cross-fertilization of research and practice. Before he joined HPI he supported companies in applying designerly ways of strategyzing. The challenges he met during this time caused him to dig deeper into a holistic theory of »value creation«, which he hopes may prove valuable in designing business models - especially within Design Thinking processes.

Since August 2013 he is a research fellow in the HPDTR program supporting a team that examines Design Thinking's diffusion and impact in organizations worldwide.
