In addition to the annual HPI Connect company contact fair, the networking event for IT companies, students and alumni of the HPI, many other career related events are organized in cooperation with the student club HPI Connect.

Besides providing a first-class university education, the HPI successfully encourages and supports its students and scientists in the implementation of new business ideas as entrepreneurs. Here we present a selection of HPI Start-ups as well as offers for consulting and coaching in the field of entrepreneurship.

Former students, researchers and teachers are all members of the HPI family. We foster our close contact and help each other to develop our mutual potential in the best way possible.

As part of the "HPI meets..." event series, we regularly invite companies to HPI for interesting TechTalks. In a relaxed atmosphere, HPI students and alumni can learn more about the techniques a company uses and what the work of an IT engineer is like.

HPI meets… Alumnus/meets… Klarna

The summer semester kicks off with a double HPI meets: Alexander Ernst - HPI alumnus - will give you an insight into the stages of his career after graduation up to the present day and present various IT projects that he has successfully implemented since then.

Alexander Ernst: "After HPI, I started my professional life at Netlight - a company that nobody at HPI knew at the time in summer 2017. I managed three different projects in my 3.5 years. I was at Akelius (real estate company) to develop an internal platform for the brokers, at mobile.de to help car buyers finance their car and finally at Klarna. There I worked on developing Klarna's first bank account and bringing it live. I've now been employed at Klarna since May 2021, and since October I've been Team Lead for a new team working on payments on campus. In the Tech Talk, I show how we wrote a rules-engine at Klarna to process standing orders and scheduled transfers. And how we took our solution from an MVP to a robust and scalable solution."
