Enterprise Platform and Integration Concepts

Research Group of Prof. Dr. h.c. Hasso Plattner

Our research focuses on the conceptual and technological aspects of enterprise computing and the interplay of basic components. This includes studying the principles of in-memory data management on modern hardware and the integration of different software systems into a single platform to create business value. In the development of new enterprise applications, the focus is on the end user, for whom bespoke software solutions are to be realized quickly. This requires well-designed tools and methods for enterprise systems design and engineering. We apply our findings to real-world scenarios and showcase future enterprise applications by implementing and evaluating our research with industry partners.

HYRISE is an open-source in-memory database designed and developed at our research group. The database is actively used in our database teaching and research activities. As such, it steadily continues to be extended with new features and functionality. HYRISE is available on Github.

SUGAR Network

This course is a unique project experience where Master students mainly from the Hasso Plattner Institute team up with students from leading global universities to tackle real-world design challenges posed by global corporations. HPI is partner in the ME310 program of Stanford University and the SUGAR network, an alliance of academic institutions to jointly organize and run this very special course offering on a global scale. Projects start every year in September and run for 9 months, including global kick-off meetings and final presentations at Stanford university. Learn more.
