SAPPHIRE NOW 2016 in Orlando

The HPI presented its latest research projects at the SAPPHIRE NOW 2016 Conference from May 17 to 19 in Orlando, Florida. Novel approaches and software solutions were shown to SAP customers and business partners from around the world.

Our research group for Enterprise Platform and Integration Concepts contributed five projects. We presented new concepts in the field of In-Memory databases with HYRISE our In-Memory research database that shares fundamental concepts with SAP HANA, an IoT-based tool for environmental monitoring, how to gain insights from spatio-temporal data in order to analyze soccer games, several projects in the field of In-Memory Data Management for Life Sciences as well as an intelligent data exploration tool to extract information from scientific publications using natural language processing.

Literature

"A Course in In-Memory Data Management" by Prof. Dr. h.c. Hasso Plattner. This book is the culmination of six years work of in-memory research. As such, it provides the technical foundation for combined transactional and analytical workloads inside one single database as well as examples of new applications that are now possible given the availability of the new technology. The book is available at Springer.
