Scope of the exercise

In this exercise, you will earn hands-on experience on how to develop a standard ERP finance or real estate process on the cloud computing platforms AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and SAP Cloud Platform.

The task of this exercise is:

to implement a finance or real estate process on a cloud platform using serverless technologies – you will team up with your peers and take on the challenge using the tools of “your” platform against the solutions your opponents will be able to derive based on “their” platforms
to evaluate cloud qualities like the development experience, performance, scalability, availability, and expected costs on each platform (within a small budget)
to analyze the available options and technologies on each platform for securely integrating with a standard ERP system like SAP S/4HANA

Learning Goals

Get familiar with a standard ERP finance or real estate process
Get acquainted with state-of-the-art cloud computing platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP, SAP CP
Build a cloud-native application considering both technical and business-related constraints
Learn the strengths and gain an understanding of the limits of serverless computing

Grading

The final grading will consist of the following individual parts:

Implementation and presentation of your application
Project documentation

Literature

"A Course in In-Memory Data Management" by Prof. Dr. h.c. Hasso Plattner. This book is the culmination of six years work of in-memory research. As such, it provides the technical foundation for combined transactional and analytical workloads inside one single database as well as examples of new applications that are now possible given the availability of the new technology. The book is available at Springer.
